Chemical acids in cosmetics – effective exfoliation and skin regeneration
Chemical acids are some of the most effective ingredients used in cosmetics, which help exfoliate dead skin cells, improve skin texture, reduce discoloration and counteract aging. They are divided into several main groups: AHA, BHA and PHA, and each of them works in a slightly different way.
Types of chemical acids:
- AHAs (alpha-hydroxy acids) – water-soluble, they act mainly on the surface of the skin, gently exfoliate and moisturize.
- Glycolic acid – intensively exfoliates, stimulates skin renewal
- Lactic acid – moisturizes, improves skin elasticity
- Almond acid – mild, ideal for sensitive and acne-prone skin
- BHA (beta-hydroxy acids) – fat-soluble, penetrate the pores and regulate sebum secretion.

Salicylic acid – ideal for oily and acne-prone skin, cleanses pores, has anti-inflammatory effects
- PHA acids (poly-hydroxy acids) – the mildest, ideal for sensitive skin, they are moisturizing and anti-aging.

Gluconolactone, lactobionic acid – regenerate, strengthen the skin’s hydrolipid barrier
